The true role of the mind with matter is not one of dominion. The relationship should rather be one of balance. A healthy body is as important to the mind as vice versa.

Mind over matter?

‘Mind over matter’ cannot be a universal truth. Yes, mind does influence the 'matter' of our existence; but where health is concerned in modern times, it is essential to maintain a healthy body, so the mind remains healthy.

Actually, it can also be considered as a 'chicken first or egg first' kind of debate.

Stress is something we all have to face on a regular basis, mostly without much choice. Our daily activity seems to be a ping-pong game wherein it may seem that much thought has gone into the reactions, but really, it has become reflex action. Some do it skillfully; for most, it is mundane.

Health is the enthusiasm with which we face each moment. Enthusiasm is possible only when we are 'entirely' involved in the task at hand. The physical actions required are measured inversely by the mental activity. With correct or optimum thinking, the body actions remain just as much as required and efficiency prevails.

Too much thoughtless action usually goes to waste.

Health, then, becomes more real as the mind and body are in sync and ill-health just a minor glitch, quickly corrected with coordinated effort from both mind and body....
