Moving Forward

There must be another way; another way to live and be.

Man has witnessed the two extremes. He has seen his spiritual effort leading to a spiritual ascent from this world of suffering and pain into the Home of Light and Peace and Bliss. Man has also seen his effort leading to a nosedive into the abysses of matter, unearthing its riches and possibilities. The first gives us wisdom and humility, peace and love. The second provides us with comfort and offers us the power to manipulate the dumb forces of material nature. But wisdom without power cannot change the world, just as power without wisdom can end up destroying the world it inhabits. We stand today in this precarious condition.

It will take just one giant wave to unsettle all that we have built on material power alone. A few moments in time are sufficient to destroy what centuries have built through painstaking labour. This cannot be. Man must discover the one authentic original Power from which all other powers, physical, psychological, occult and spiritual derive. That Power, we are told, lies within, coiled up and asleep. We feel only a little of it but that is enough to sustain our transient existence. We are not ready for more; our body and mind cannot contain it. Yet without it we are like lost children battling known and unknown forces, many of which are so much more powerful and can use us as toys. The history of human civilisation continually depicts us as a plaything of these forces. Even when we master some of them, we are still their dependents and slaves.

All this must change, for man was not forever made for slavery but for mastery. He has within him not only the One Original Power but the Master of Existence; the Primal Knowledge and Power that has gone forth into the act of creation. That we must find; that we must unleash from its limiting bounds; that we must acquire and obey. Not by force can we win it, but through a great austerity and surrender or perhaps by a simple act of love. Not only must we liberate that Power from within, but attune our entire being, body and mind to its powerful working. Each cell of our body must respond to its magnetic and transmuting Touch like an instrument responds in the hands of its wielder. It does not matter whether ‘we’ break down in this sublime effort. The very ashes of our body scattered in the winds will become seeds for the future change. Each individual ‘failure’ will pave the way for a future collective success, for what else brings success but often a series of ‘failed’ steps until the last definitive one? When Nature has learned from her failures and when our mud is soaked and steeped with the aspiration of change, then out of this body of dust and mire shall victoriously step the Light supreme. It does not matter which particular body witnesses the first victory for it will be a victory for the earth, a sure step towards the conquest of matter by the Spirit’s force.

Such is the destiny bequeathed to man and earth; such is our proud and happy privilege to be the catalysts of this sublime unprecedented change. Man can turn to lesser goals for the moment, but not for long. He seeks and awaits this supreme transformation. So will it be, the gods approve and endorse.
