The concept of Integral Health has entered its teens. A child of transitional years, it bears the stamp of all transitional thoughts and ideas that hope to become a bridge between the paradigms of today and the truths of tomorrow.
Like any idea in its adolescence, it has still to carve its place and assume a personality appropriate to the force that animates it, but the first signs are encouraging. A child of the New Consciousness that has hence entered the arena of the world; it draws inspiration from the vision and work of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The ideal and concept of Integral Health nevertheless hopes to be a triple bridge. First, it seeks to bridge the enormous body of knowledge that had accumulated in the past, of which only fragments and residues have survived. Second, it seeks to bridge the diverse approaches to health and healing that exist today and are being actively practised. Finally, it seeks to become a bridge between all that we know today and have known in the past with the greater knowledge yet to arrive from the frontiers of the future. Depending upon the stance we take, we can visualise it as one or the other.
Nevertheless, even as this seed idea enters the world-play, we await its full blossoming and that is only possible when man himself awakens and ascends to his own integral reality. Then we would not need ideas and concepts as temporary props to walk upon. Fulfilled in the body of future man as a living reality, it will become a natural and normal operation of our life, a way of our being. But until that hour of the golden harvest arrives, we have to walk steadily upon the path with one foot firmly on the ground and the other striding towards the new dawn.
The goal is clear. The path is ready. We have only to walk in the certitude of the future vision with the patience of the unborn.
